How an Automotive Manufacturer Enhanced Smart Production with ONERugged Digital Signages and MDM System

The integration of MDM and MES systems allowed for the automatic distribution of production instructions, significantly reducing manual errors and improving the accuracy of the approval process. SOPs were easily accessible, simplifying information retrieval for workers and ensuring that all tasks were executed consistently and in accordance with standards. This resulted in a more streamlined and efficient production process, minimizing delays caused by human error.

Challenge

As the global automotive industry undergoes rapid transformation, smart and automated production has become essential for competitiveness. A leading Chinese automotive manufacturer faced significant challenges as they worked to upgrade their production line with smart technology. The company managed a vast network of workstations, each needing seamless integration and efficient management. Additionally, the increasing complexity of managing both workers and devices required a reliable solution to handle real-time data and prevent sensitive information from being exposed.

Production equipment needed to operate reliably under harsh factory conditions. However, traditional maintenance methods were slow and inefficient, with technicians often needing to be on-site to address issues, causing long downtimes. With digital transformation accelerating, the number of devices and systems in use had skyrocketed, complicating management efforts. Ensuring efficient, secure, and stable operations became a major challenge in their transition to smart manufacturing.

Solution

To solve these issues, the manufacturer deployed ONERugged D10R digital signages along with an MDM system integrated with MES. In the production line, the D10R were equipped with smart attendance features such as fingerprint and facial recognition, allowing for faster, more accurate tracking of employee attendance. Managers could access real-time data through the MDM system, allowing them to monitor workstations remotely, troubleshoot issues, and update applications without being on-site. This centralized management of all devices simplified operations and minimized the time required for maintenance.

The MDM system was deeply integrated with MES, allowing production instructions to be automatically generated and distributed through Wi-Fi before scheduling began. This digital process eliminated errors common with manual instruction distribution and ensured that employees could view accurate standard operating procedures (SOPs) directly on the D10R’s high-brightness screen, promoting consistency and standardization across production tasks. Additionally, MDM’s security management features—such as disabling external storage, restricting camera use, and preventing screenshots—protected sensitive data, ensuring the safety of production information.

Benefits

By combining the capabilities of the MDM system with the MES platform and D10R, the client achieved a smoother production flow. This integration led to improved approval efficiency, reduced error rates in production instructions, and ensured that all workstations remained secure. With MDM's robust security features, sensitive production data was fully protected, minimizing risks associated with information leaks. The overall effect was a marked improvement in operational efficiency and a stronger, more reliable data management system.

Increased Production Efficiency

The integration of MDM and MES systems allowed for the automatic distribution of production instructions, significantly reducing manual errors and improving the accuracy of the approval process. SOPs were easily accessible, simplifying information retrieval for workers and ensuring that all tasks were executed consistently and in accordance with standards. This resulted in a more streamlined and efficient production process, minimizing delays caused by human error.

Enhanced Data Security

The D10R, managed by the MDM system, provided robust security measures that prevented data leaks and protected the company’s sensitive information. Features such as disabling external storage devices, blocking cameras, and restricting screenshots ensured that confidential production data remained secure and inaccessible to unauthorized personnel. This enhanced data security helped maintain the stability and integrity of the production system.

Improved Competitiveness

The introduction of D10R, along with MDM and MES system integration, not only optimized production processes but also significantly increased equipment operational efficiency. Real-time monitoring and rapid issue resolution reduced production interruptions, helping the client become more competitive in the marketplace. This level of operational intelligence and efficiency fostered greater trust among customers, further strengthening the client’s position in the industry.

Reduced Maintenance Costs

With MDM’s centralized control and remote management capabilities, device maintenance and troubleshooting became more efficient. Technicians were able to monitor the status of equipment in real-time and swiftly address issues remotely, reducing downtime and associated maintenance costs. The improved management and lower failure rates extended the lifecycle of devices, further reducing operational costs for the client.
